Did you know that Paresh Maity’s first painting was sold for Rs 500 and he was still doing his BFA from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata at that time?
Today, he is among the most celebrated contemporary painters of India and a man known for creating India’s longest and one of the world’s monumental paintings, an 850 ft-long painting titled “Indian Odyssey” at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.
Paresh Maity has held 75 Solo Exhibitions in thirty five years of his career . Although he has gradually moved away from the atmospheric scenery to representations of the human form , his work still commands a very high value in the art market .His more recent paintings are bold and graphic, with a strong color and unusual cropping.
